2022 World Menstruation Day: KNSG, YPE4AH Enlightened Women on Menstruation Hygiene

The Kano state government (KNSG) in collaboration with the Youth Powered Ecosystem for Adolescent Health (YPE4AH) have trained and enlightened women on the importance of maintaing their health during menstruation.

The permanent Kano state ministry of health Hajiya Halima Aliyu Musa stated this during the world menstruation day 2022 organised by the ministry in collaboration with USAD, YPE4AH at wudil local government area.

Halima Musa represented by the Director public health and disease control of the ministry Dr Ashiru Rajab said the day was set a side by the global community to celebrate and create awareness during the menstruation period.

She said proper care during the menstruation period will make women healthy.

The permanent secretary further said as a result of this awareness people now adays come to discuss the issue of menstruation between parents and their children because it’s not the issue to be hiding off.

He added that KNSG in collaboration with USAID Youth-powered ecosystem to advance urban Adolescent Health chosen the two local government areas that’s Wudil and Ungogo for the implementation of the program.

“There is need for people to disregard any mis conception or mis perception surrounding menstruation, this is natural process from God to ensure that women have healthy re- productive,” He said.

In her remarks, the state technical Director USAID Youth-powered ecosystem to advance urban Adolescent Health Zainab Mukarram said the program is begin implementing in Lagos and Kano in collaboration with the state governments with aims to empower the segment with skills, social capital and Resources needed to realize their full potentials.

Mrs Mukarram also said 28th of every month of may set a side for international menstruation day YPE4AH been a project targets adolescent between 15-19 years both married and unmarried is a day that create awareness on why it’s important to give attention to understand some of challenges that young women face.

During the day, Hajiya Ramlatu Jibril state coordinator Maternal and child Health and YPE4AH outreach officer Dr. Nuruddin Dahiru demonstrates on how women care for themselves during menstruation period.

In his welcome address wudil local government chairman Alhaji Muktar Garba Darki represented by his vice Alhaji lamin Dankaza assured the council support for the success of program.

During the celebration, the adolescent women that attended the event have benefitted from free distribution of Pad.
