A benin based Legal Luminary and a Senior Advocate of Nigeria, Mr. Olawiyola Afolabi has urged the newly sworn in Edo Deputy Governor, Mr Marvelous Godwins to avoid Mistakes of the impeached Deputy Governor Governor, Comrade Philip Shaibu.

Mr. Afolabi stated this in an interview with Radio Nigeria in Benin City while commenting on the development.

Mr. Afolabi who is also a Human Rights advocate explained that the situation that led to Comrade Philip Shaibu impeachment was regrettable but were things that were avoidable.

“It’s all politics, the position of the Deputy Governor all resolves around the Governor, it’s the person the Governor says he wants, it’s politics, it’s consultation and negotiation.

There was no Court order or expatriate order stoping his impeachment, assuming there was court order like what happened in Ondo state, the matter would have been different so you can’t blame the Assembly it would have been a washed in the Media and also the Assembly in house, they have there own privileges.

The legal implications of being impeached as a Deputy Governor is that you cannot collect pension, they won’t give you, because being impeached it’s like you have never being a Deputy Governor before except you go to court and the Court says the process that led to his impeachment is not followed otherwise he cannot collect pensions”.

Mr. Afolabi further appealed to Governor Obaseki to help fast the swearing in of Judges as being approved by the National Judicial Council as his tenure winds up.
