The Borno state government has approved the release of seventy three million, one hundred and forty thousand naira for the payment of registration fees for orphans of civiliian JTF.
The amount also include the procurement of admission forms for 1,878 indigenes of the State into College of Nursing and Midwifery.
At a media briefing in Maiduguri, Executive Secretary state Scholarship Board, Malam Bala Isa said three hundred orphans of late Civilian JTF, hunters and vigilantes who lost their lives in the counter insurgency operations will benefit from the intervention.
According to him, two hundred thousand naira will be given to each of the orphans for payment of second year registration fees.
“Governor Babagana Zulum has approved the release of 73,140,000 naira for the payment of second year registration fees for orphans of late CJTF, hunters and vigilantes. This was part of the Governor’s concern and support for the families of the volunteer heroes that lost their lives in defending people of the state” Isa said.
On the issue of admission to College of Nursing, the Executive Secretary said the 1,878 were selected across the twenty seven local government areas with priorities given to Maiduguri metropolis and Jere local government because of their large population.
He explained that the focus of the state government is to have enough frontline health workers to tackle emerging health challenges in rural areas.
Malam Bala Isa appreciated Governor Babagana Zulum for his concern to the plight of widows and orphans of the late gallant volunteers.
