Cholera Outbreak: Kano Recorded 189 Victims from 20 LGA’s — Dr Tsanyawa

The state commissioner of Health Dr Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa stated this during the press briefing on cholera outbreak and Response in Kano.

He said Kano state government through it’s ministry of health has recorded successes in tackling the cholera outbreak in the state compared to last year.

“We had a total of 189 cases in 20 Local Government areas out of which 184 have fully recovered, zero active case and Five deaths. It will interest you to know that last year by now we recorded 12,116 cases with 329 deaths” Dr Tsanyawa added.

The commissioner reiterated the commitment of kano state government in providing adequate and qualitative health care services to the people of the state in order to eliminate cholera outbreak and other diseases in the state. He called on the general public to ensure good personal and environmental hygiene and sanitation, avoid open defection, ensuring hand washing with soap, and safe storage of food.

Dr. Aminu Ibrahim Tsanyawa commended kano state government, five state Emirates, development partners and other relevant stakeholders for their immense support to the health sector in the state.

It may recall that, Nigeria Center for disease control has recorded a total of 2,339 cholera cases in more than 30 States from January to June 2022.
