The Technical committee setup by Kano state ministry for higher Education has recommended the Conversion of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education Kumbotso to Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education.
The committee headed by Professor Jibrila Dahiru Amin disclosed this when presenting technical report to Kano state commissioner for higher Education Dr Mariya Mahmud Bunkure for the upward submission to executive governor of Kano state, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for necessary actions.
Professor J. D. Amin said the committee has critically analyzed the infrastructural facilities, which include: personnel, spaces and equipments, out of which the committee find more than the recommendations necessary for profer implementations of Degree programmes.
He also said the college is already running fifteen (15) degree programmes affliated to Bayero University Kano (BUK) and Amadu Bello University Zaria (ABU), adding that conversion of the college to University will pave ways for the institutions to produce a high quality students, lecturers and technical officers like in the olden days of the college.
“I have a lots of experience in establishing universities in different parts of Nigeria, I know what’s it takes before establishing university, and we have made appropriate recommendations for people and governments of Kano state to enhance the college and to transform it to a university, the institutions is already running fifteen degree programmes appliated to Bayero University Kano BUK and Ahmadu Bello University Zaria ABU, so it has more than the recommendations”, Professor J. D. Amin, further said.
He added that “Kano should be leading all the northern states in education and universities by by virtues of Populations, by virtues entrepreneurship, so their is needs for quick conversions of Sa’adatu Rimi College of Education in to Sa’adatu Rimi University of Education, Kano”.
In a remarks, the commissioner for higher Education Dr. Mariya Mahmud Bunkure represented by Director Administration and General Services at the ministry Aminu Yusuf Kura said his boss expressed her kind appreciation to the committee and promised for upwards submission to the governor for profer implementations.
She assured the committee that all the recommendation made will be word-to-word forwarded to the governor, “Looking at the caliber of people in the committee and the work they have done, all the findings, observations, comments and recommendations made will be use and sent to the governor (Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje) for appropriate actions”.
The commissioner then commended the committee for their wonderful assignments hoping to continue with the collaboration to achieve a desired objectives.
Also speaking, the provost of the College Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure thanked Allah noting that his dreams becomes reality.

He said with the courage and support by the executive governor of Kano state, the college has achieved a lots of programmes and constructions of class rooms, theaters among others.
Bunkure also commended Kano higher Education commissioner for her foresight and it’s supports to the college towards successful implementations of all it’s policies and day-to-day operations.
