Custom Seize Drugs Worth 19 Million In Sokoto

The Joint Border Patrol team of the Nigeria Custom Service have seized a consignment of sex enhancement drugs Worth nineteen point six million naira duty payable value in Sokoto state.

The Coordinating Comptroller in the area, Mr. Kolapo Oladeji disclosed this while speaking to newsmen in the state.

The Comptroller said trucks carrying food items were also intercepted along Kebbi Sokoto road.

He explained that the loaded trucks were heading to the Niger Republic which is not allow at the present moment.

Mr. Kolapo Oladeji said the exportation of food items was the reason for high cost of food stuff in the Country.

The Custom officer stressed that some consignment of counterfeit drugs whose duty payable values were not yet ascertained, had also being seized during the routine operation.

According to him, some of the drugs carries fake NAFDAC registration numbers.

Mr. Kolapo Oladeji said the Custom operatives also apprehended sixty Jerry cans of petroleum products that were meant to be smuggled to Niger Republic.

He appealed to the public to support the Custom in their quest to reducing illegal exportation of farm produce for sustainable food security in the country.

Radio Nigeria in the state report that the event was witnessed by NAFDAC and Nigeria Immigration s Service officials.
