Economic Hardship: Stop All Forms Of Gender Based Violence, CSO Charges Nigerians

A Civil society organizations, ” the Indomitable Youths Organization, IYO has called on Nigerians to stop all forms of gender based Violence in the country even as the Yuletide draws nearer coupled with the current economic realities characterising the country.

They stated this at a sensitization rally held at the Textile mill road axis of Egor Local Government Area of Edo State.

The rally which saw some members of the group holding placards with Various inscription ” stop human battery” Human trafficking is a crime” ” stop all forms of GBV” ” real men don’t rape” among others featured singing of Solidarity Songs in passing their message.

In a remark, Project Coordinator of the group, A Medical practitioner and Right Advocate, Mr Bright Onioviokukor said the rationale for the sensitization rally was to draw Nigerians attention on the need to shun all forms of sexual and gender based violence especially as the Yultide approaches.

He noted that with the current economic hardship bedeviling the Country, couples maybe prone to engage in Gender based Violence but urged Nigerians to resist the temptation of engaging in Such.

Earlier, Executive Director, Indomitable Youths Organization, Ufuoma Akpobi said the group will continue to sensitise Nigerians on the need to shun sexual and Gender based Violence in the country.

High point of the rally was the distribution of fliers and issuance of questionnaires on Sexual and Gender based violence.
