Edo state Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools, ASUSS, Comrade Idubor Aighomwanhi have appealed to Governor Godwin Obaseki to as a matter of urgency employ more teachers for public secondary schools in Edo state so as to enhance learning in the state.
He stated this at an interview with Radio Nigeria in Benin City, the Edo state capital, during an event to mark this year’s “World Teachers day” held at the State ASUSS secretariat at Temgboga Junction, Ikpoba hill, Benin City.
Comrade Aighomwanhi applauded the technological innovations of the Edo Basic Educational Transformation Program (Edo BETP) initiative of Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration in enhancing teaching and learning in the state.
While thanking Governor Obaseki the regular and prompt payment of teachers salaries in the state, Comrade Aighomwanhi further appealed for the implementation of the sixty five years retirement age for secondary achools teachers or the fourty years of service for them.
The Edo ASUSS chairman appeal to the Edo State Government for better welfare packages fore scondary schools teachers in the state.
There were good will messages from various stakeholders including question and answer series by some participants.
