Residents of Getso community in Gwarzo local government area of Kano state have decried over the danger posed by erosion in the area.
The deputy majority leader of the local government council.and councillor representing Getso ward Shamsu Zubairu Getso made the call during a town hall meeting on 2024 budget organised by the local government council.
In a statement signed by zonal Information officer Rabi’u Khalil Shamsu Zubairu Getso said the area worst hit started from the road linking Getso main gate to Getso market and Sabon birni to Getso dam making the road unmotorable and danger to the community.
The lawmaker pointed out that the residents of the are living in total darkness as there is no single functional and workable transformer in the area.
Earlier in his welcome address the head of department planning,research and statistics Gwarzo local government Mal.Ibrahim Haruna Fagge said the town hall meeting organised with aimed to enable community leaders,stake holders and individuals to table thier communities demands for the preparation of 2024 budget.
Speaking at the occasion the Chairman Gwarzo local government council Eng.Bashir Abdullahi Kutama represented by Auwalu Sanii Lakwaya highlighted some of the achievement recorded by the council during 2023 fiscal year budget which includes:construction of nine primary health care facililties, construction of ten primary schools, blocks in ten wards of the local government.
Others are provision of pipe borne water to lakwaya town as well as ongoing water projects from Kusalla dam to Getso community.
On his part the representative of the ministry for local government who is director salary validation Sanusi Ya’u Garo expressed his appreciation on the peaceful conduct and Calibre of people who grace the ocçasion and wish the council success in it’s undertakings.
