Gov Abdulrazaq inaugurates Kwara Steering Committee On Agric project

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has inaugurated the State Steering Committee for the implementation of the Special Agro-industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ), to boost food and nutritional security.

Inaugurating the Committee in Ilorin, Governor AbdulRazq said the project Supported by the Islamic Development Bank and counterpart funding from the state government.

According to him the $57.2million dollars project is designed to promote agroprocessing and sustainable farming, improve household incomes and foster job creation in rural agricultural communities.

AbdulRazaq explained that the project has the capacity to radically impact the economy and livelihood of so many Kwarans.

He said the objective of the project is to support inclusive and sustainable agro-industrial development in Kwara State.

The governor maintained that the proposed SAPZ project will support economic and social development programmes of the Federal Government of Nigeria and the participating states.

In his remarks the state project Coordinator Engineer. Busari Isiaka said the steering committee has the responsibility of strategic direction and policy guidance for the project.

He said the agric project (SAPZ) currently involves eight states, Kwara, Kano, and Abuja are funded by Islamic Development Bank (IsDB), while the rest are financed either by AfDB or IFAD.
