The National Human Rights Network has confered the Kano state Commissioner for Environment Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso with a Merit Award for Service.
Speaking while presenting the award, the Executive Director of the organisation, Comrade A. A. Haruna Ayagi said choosing Dr. Getso for the award was based on meritorious and selfless service to the humanity.
He said the Human Right Network found Dr. Kabiru Getso worthy of the award after a discreet and underground investigation on the awardee by conducting a qualitative research survey, using questionnaires in Gwarzo Local Government Area, where Dr. Getso hailed from.
Comrade Ayagi, noted that among the other qualities they found wanting from Dr. Getso’s side include giving out scholarships to students, empowering the teeming youth on self-reliance and using his education to develop the society.
The National Human Rights Network also announced the appointment of Dr. Kabiru Getso, among the seven (7) others, as a fellow member of the organisation.
Receiving the award, the Commissioner said the issue of leadership is a huge burden and reiterated the fact that it is answerable to Almighty Allah.
He maintained that the award will serve as a motivating factor for him to help the downtrodden. and expressed the government’s readiness to cooperate and support the human rights organisation and thanked them for recognising his services.
Dr. Getso later dedicated the award to the entire staff of Kano state Ministry for Environment for their commitments and effective service delivery to the people of the state.
