INEC Re-run: Kaduna Peace Commission Tasks Stakeholders On Peaceful Conduct

The Kaduna State Peace Commission has appealed to political parties, candidates and electoral officials including security agencies and the electorate to eschew violence and uphold transparency, integrity and accountability throughout the process of the re-run elections in the state and the Country at large.

In a statement by the executive vice chairman of the commission Saleh B. momale says the re-run election presents an opportunity for citizens to exercise their democratic rights by electing their representatives into the affected states and federal constituencies.

The Commission emphasizes the importance of peaceful and orderly
conduct of elections, and called on Political parties, candidates and their supporters to avoid any form of conduct that undermines peace and security before, during and after the elections.

The Commission appeals to individuals, community leaders and various stakeholders to report any threat to peace before, during or
after the elections to relevant authorities, including the Kaduna State Peace
Commission, the Independent National Electoral Commission and security formations for appropriate response.

The re-run elections would be held on Saturday third February 2024 in some constituencies and polling units in seven Local Government Areas of Chikun, Igabi, Kauru, Kaduna South, Kudan, Kachia and Kagarko in kaduna state, Nigeria.
