The Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Aliyu Sale Tafida has ordered a thorough investigation into the alleged barbaric and dehumanizing act of jungle justice meted on the two (2) unknown suspected thieves by some irate people in Malamar Taura Village, Taura LGA.

DSP Shiisu Adam, Command’s Spokesperson made this known in a statement issued.

He revealed that, on 30th July, 2022 at about 0800hrs, same date at about 0530hrs, two (2) unknown suspected thieves were beaten with sticks and cutlasses to death by an irate mob for suspecting to steal domestic animals.

“A team of Policemen led by SP Yohana Babale visited the scene of crime, corpses were taken to General Hospital Ringim and certified dead by a Medical Doctor.

“The Commissioner of Police frowned at the action of such people, who instead of taking the suspects to the Police for proper investigation and prosecution, aided the irate mob to kill the suspect allegedly arrested for particular offences without any recourse to the law.

CP Tafida described the act as barbaric, dehumanizing, and inimical to the law governing the country.

He, therefore called on people not allow disgruntled elements in the State to take laws into their hands by killing suspects arrested for alleged crimes in such a dehumanizing and unlawful manner.

He further warned that, under his stewardship, no body has the right to treat suspects in such barbaric manner.

He enjoined public to hand over any suspects arrested in connection with any crime to Police or any law enforcement agencies constitutionally saddled with the responsibility of investigating and prosecuting such suspects.

He added that investigation is in progress.
