Just-in: Dawakin Tofa Sci. College Emerges Winner On NILDS Quiz Competition in Kano

Dawakin Tofa science Colleges has emerged winner on legislature and Democracy, St. Luis college and Al-Imrad Academy became second and third positions in Kano.

The quiz competition was organized by the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) to some selective secondary schools in Kano.

Speaking while declaring the quiz competition open, the Director General National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) Professor Abubakar O. Sulaiman said the competition contained to be an annual event which first edition held in 2016 with participating schools within the federal Capital Territory Abuja until the institute governing council headed by the President of the Senate and speaker House of Representatives directed that the competition be expanded all over the country.

The Director General represented by Professor Muhammad Mustafa Namadi said the competition is taken place all over the country with only 30 states participating.

” The objective of the competition is to provide continued education on the legislature and improving the knowledge of students and youths on the country, practice and Procedure of the legislature encourage deeper understanding civic and Democratic governance”. DG added

In his remarks, the state commissioner for education Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa represented by the Parmanent secretary to the ministry Hajiya Kubra Imam said the competition will improve the capacity of students in terms of legislative knowledge as well as democratic role in the country.

The commissioner also thanked Kano state government in its effort to make the education sector into the highest level.

Alhaji Umar Haruna Doguwa commended the institute for choosing Kano state to participate in this national assignment.

Speaking earlier, chairman Kano state House of Assembly committee on education through Director legislative matters Alhaji Inuwa Yusuf Kawu expressed their readiness to support the state government in the development of educational sector.

“To make this into reality, Kano state House of Assembly has the three committees on education i.e on basic, secondary and Tertiary institutions. Even just few days ago, the state assembly passed into law 2023 supplementary Budget which 60 percent goes to education,” he added.

In his vote of thanks, the Director education services state ministry for education Malam Hashim Muhammad Tukur mentioned that, the 6 secondary schools participate in the quiz competition are: Dawakin Tofa science College, Al-Imrad Academy sumaila, St. Louis College Kano, GSS Danbatta, GTC Bagauda and Governor’s College Kano.
