Just-in:KNSG introduces New innovations to enhance KSCHMA – Gov. Abba



Governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has assured the commitment of his administration for the improvement of healthcare delivery in the state.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf stated while opening a 3 day in-house training on basics healthcare financing and social Health Insurance organized by Kano state Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA).

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf represented by his Principal Private Secretary said there is a new innovations to enhance KSCHMA in strengthening its duties which includes introduction of mobile Clinics, introduction of Ambulance service.

“We are committed to fill so many challenges in the health sector in term of recruite a qualified health personnel, because many are died, many are Retired and many move from one county to another. That’s why Kano state government is ready to addy those challenges in order to provide qualitative service to over 21 million people in the state.” Gov. Abba said

In his welcome address state commissioner for Health Dr Abubakar Labaran Yusuf highlights on policies brought by the present administration in the health sector through state Contributory Healthcare Management Agency (KSCHMA.)

Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf urged the participants to make in good use what they learn to the good people of the state.

In her speech, the Executive secretary Kano state Contributory Healthcare Management Agency KSCHMA Dr. Rahila Muktar said Kano state government made provision for strengthening the agency and the scheme to make it more responsive.

Dr. Rahila Muktar represented by the Director Claims management of the agency Dr. Fatima Zahraddin sai the agency conducting the training with the support of Center for health Economics, system Strengthening and Analytics CHESDA) to build the capacity of staff is quite in order.

“The implementation of Basic Healthcare Provision Fund (BHCF) will be reviewed to address the identified gaps. This will involve the verification of the existing Enrolees in the Database and modify the Enrollment process to reflect the National Guidelines.” Dr. Rahila said

In his paper presentation,one of the facilitator Dr. Mahmud Abdulwahab from Center for health Economics system Strengthening and Analytics CHESDA pointed out objectives of the training which includes: Be conversant with healthcare financing and it’s function. Be able to design and health insurance benefit package, and Be familiar with provider payment mechanism in health insurance.

Speaking earlier, state coordinator National Health Insurance Authority Alhaji Ibrahim Aliyu Alhassan commended KSCHMA for organizing the training. Assured NIHA cordial relationship with KSCHMA through given all assistance towards the successful implementation of health insurance in the state.
