Immediately after he was sworn-in as the new commissioner for health by governor Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf assumed duty.
Speaking amidst mammoth crowd of relatives, friends and well wisher, Dr. Labaran thanked the Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for entrusting him to reel the steers of healthcare system of the state.
The Commissioner vowed his unflinching commitment to work unwaveringly to justify the confidence reposed on him by the Kano state government.
In a statement signed by the information officer state ministry for health Ibrahim Abdullahi Dr. Labaran pointed out that the administration of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf has come to judiciously serve the good people of Kano in all spheres of governance, buttressing that the government will not condone negligence to duty especially in the health sector.
Dr. Labaran stated that the state ministry of health is not new to him because he was its commissioner during the administration of Senator Rabi’u Musa Kwankwaso between 2011-2015 where various polices, programmes and projects were executed that uplifted the sector to the optimal level.
He then solicited total support and cooperation from the staff of the ministry and its agencies with a view to realizing the positive dreams of the Governor in the healthcare system.
He thanked management and other staff of the ministry for the warm reception accorded to him.
Earlier in her speech, the Permanent Secretary of the ministry, Hajiya Amina Aliyu Musa, thanked His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf for appointing Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf as the commissioner of the ministry.
She pointed out that being Dr. Labaran was not new in the ministry, she was optimistic that he will bring in new innovations and strategies that will further boosting the status of care of the good people of the state.
They assured the total support of the staff of the ministry to the new commissioner and the administration of Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf at large to achieving it goals in the healthcare system of the state.
Delightedly, in a swift action to showcase his readiness and preparedness, henceforth after assumption of duty, the Commissioner paid an inspection visit to Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, Hasiya Bayero Paediatric Hospital and Muhammad Abdullahi Wase Teaching Hospital respectively.
The aim of the visit is to inspect the facilities so as to map out modalities on how best to improve upon.
At Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital, after he inspected the yet to be completed the multimillion Naira theater project being executed by the Dangote Foundation, the Commissioner assured that he will meet the Governor so as to discuss with the foundation to complete the project for the overall benefit of the people of the state and beyond.
