Kano Govt. Vows To Ensure Effective Operation of Primary and Post Primary Schools

Kano State Government has vowed to ensure effective operation of both Primary and Post Primary Schools to achieve sound education.

The State Commissioner of Education Alhaji Umar Haruna Duguwa gave the assurance on Monday when he received the management of Gari College of Education and Preliminary Studies who paid him a courtesy visit in his office.

In a statement signed by Director public enlightenment state ministry for education Balarabe Abdullahi Kiru the commissioner said the present administration Abba Kabiru Yusuf had succeeded in revitalizing the state education sector through the provision of infrastructures and modern teaching materials to Primary and Secondary Schools across the state.

Umar Doguwa maintained that the State had equally sponsored training of teachers to boost their knowledge on teaching professiion, adding that another set of secondary schools teachers would soon be conveyed to Kaduna for training workshop under the National Teachers Institute.

Doguwa who noted that despite with educational challenges inherited by the administration, efforts were being made to restore the lost glory of the state education sector.

“This administration has done a lot in terms of provision of infrastructures in Schools, integrating Islamiyya, Qur’anic and Tsangaya Education System, improvement of girls education, training and retraining of teachers of both Primary and Post Primary Schools ” he said.

Regarding the new Gari College, the Commissioner advised the management to device more ways of advertising the college especially to the neighbouring states like Jigawa, Katsina and Kaduna to increase the number of students admitted in to the college.

“It is imperative that you should embark on advertisement of the new college to the neighbouring states like Jigawa, Katsina and Kaduna. By doing this, I am assuring you that the college will have more students from those areas wishing to acquire admission ” the Commissioner maintained.

He reminded the management of the tasks a head of them in ensuring that the college competes with other tertiary institutions in the state and the nation at large.

Earlier, the provost of Gari College of Education and Preliminary Studies Dr. Abdullahi Ashiru said they were at the Commissioner’s office to intimate him on progress recorded in the college and seek for his support towards promoting it’s academic activities.

“We have come to your office to inform you that Gari College is now fully on board. We therefore want to solicit for your support and cooperation in addressing some of the vital issues that enhance our academic activities ” he stated.

He further expressed the need for the Commissioner to assist in assenting the law establishing the college with a view to making the college more functional.
