The Kano state hospital Management Board says Kano state secondary health facilities have recorded Nearly sixth thousands deliveries (6,000) in the month of April, 2022.
The Director General (DG) of the Board Dr Nasiru Alhassan Kabo announced this during the Flag off of the distribution of free maternal and child health as well as accident and emergency commodities for the month of may, 2022.
He said out of 5926 deliveries recorded, 294 pregnant women received ceaserian surgery in various secondary facilities across the state.
“With this intervention our maternal and child health indices will have been on the rise” he said.
Represented by the director medical services of the board Dr Suleiman Hamza Mudi said the state government spent over 14 million naira for the procurement of such commodities in its effort to improve the healthcare delivery especially pregnant women and children.
He called on people to go to the facilities to access these services, saying staying away from the facilities will increase material mortality rate in the state.
The DG then urged development partners, non governmental organization as well as wealt individuals to support the committee interms of funds and materials in an effort eff to reduce the maternal and infant mortality in the state.
He thank the state health trust funds for its monthly counter funds to the committee.
