Kano HMB Promotes 410 Staff in January 2022

The Kano State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) has promoted 410 staff during the January 2022 senior staff promotional interview, in an effort to place its staff into relevant positions with a view to be getting effective service delivery in secondary health facilities across the state.

The interview was conducted variously and in different times cross all the 14 zones under the Board containing 42 health facilities.

In his message to the staff to be promoted, the Board’s Director General, Dr. Nasiru Alhassan Kabo enjoined them to always be rededicating themselves to the service to humanity in the course of discharging their official responsibilities.

He said that, unarguably Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has accorded all the needed attention to the state’s health sector ranging from staff promotion as at when due without delay, construction/renovating/upgrading of hospitals up to the installation of equipments so as to create conducive working environment for health workers to carry out their statutory responsibilities as effective as possible.

In a statement released and signed by Board’s Public Relations Officer Ibrahim Abdullahi also quoted Dr. Kabo as saying that “all this is aimed at gingering them up to do their possible best in seeing that the people of the state are living in a good condition of health, calling on them on the need to reciprocate the kind gesture by focusing on their official schedules of keeping people healthy at all times”.

“Dr. Ganduje has exceeded his counterparts in the country in terms of giving all the needed supports to health sector. He has laid down programmes and projects unprecedented in the history of the state that enhanced the status of healthcare system as a result”.

“What health amiable has done to the state’s health sector is incomparable with any other th state in the country”, said Dr Kabo.

He said the promotion exercise is organised and conducted in order to test the ability of a given staff and to, as well, certain his/her capability to know if he/she is really prepared to move to the next level in the civil service.

The DG further said “That is why a formidable promotion committee was formed comprising all departments and units of the Board and some selected professionals in various fields of health and go round all zones to conduct verbal interview to each staff due for promotion and provide grades based on the answers he/she provides”.

The DG then eulogised members of the promotion committee for their dedication, endurance and steadfast from beginning to the end of the exercise for making that experiences and prowess remain intact among the health workers

In his remarks, the chairman of the promotion committee, the Director Admin and General Services of the Board, Bashir Ado Gaya (Sarkin Fadar Gaya), called on health workers across the state to always attend to patients politely and give them the best of services they require, adding that this will give patients some sense of relief even before they are prescribed with the drugs.

Sarkin Fada drew their attention that promotional exam has been introduced to the health sector which shows that any staff due for promotion has to pass the exam before he/she is allowed to participate in the interview, hence the need for them to remain conscious in their fields as the questions are designed and set up from within their area of specializations, stressing that “Only those who successfully pass the exam would be promoted.”

He reminded them of Governor Ganduje’s heartwarming regards to their welfare by ensuring their timely promotion, and enjoined them to show gratitude by giving the good service delivery to the teeming populace of the state.

“Board will not excuse carelessness and negligence to duty from any health worker. Any intentional violation of the standard rules and regulations as well as his/her professional ethics is at one’s volition and risk because sanction would definitely be applied in accordance with the civil service rules,” he frowned.

The DAGS said that the Board has taken promotion of its workforce with uppermost importance, recalling that in July 2021 promotional exercise 1,300 staff have been promoted to various positions and have since been issued with their notifications and congratulatory letters and the current ones are under process which is to be completed as soon as the exercise is done.
