Association of Private Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN) has expressed dismay over what it described as inadequate private survey firms in Kano.

The Chairman of APPSN, Surv. Dabiri Olu expressed the concern during the Annual General Conference of the association of Private Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria in Kano.

Surveyor Olu said, the State has only 8 survey firms, against Lagos which has over a 700 firms.

Surveyor Dabiri Olu who further expressed concern over building collapse experience in recent times, reiterated APPSN’s commitment to monitor structures at all stages of construction to avert building collapses leading to loss of lives and resources.

Surv. Dabiri Olu however stressed the need to provide private survey firms in the State to provide employment opportunities for residents.

Speaking earlier, the President Nigerian Institute of Surveyors Surveyor Dr. Matthew Ibitoye said the Kano conference is the second after the First one that took place in Legos state with aims to discuss about the practice of Surveyors in the Country as well as the welfare of members of association.
