Kano PDP Guber Tussle: Court Sacks Wali, Returns Abacha

The Federal High Sitting in Kano presided over by Justice AM Liman on Thursday declared Alhaji Muhammad Sani Abacha as Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Gubernatorial Candidate in Kano.

Pyramid Fm Kano, gathered that the court sat via Zoom and after analysing all the submissions by counsel of both parties granted all the 10 reliefs prayed by counsel to Abacha.

The court restrained Sadiq Wali from parading himself as Kano PDP Gubernatorial Candidate.

The presiding Judge also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC to substitute the name of Sadik Wali with immediate effect being the person who scored the highest votes cast during the PDP primary election, conducted in Kano on 25th May, 2022.

The court ruled that the INEC which is body responsible for monitoring any election, supervised and monitored the PDP primary held at Lugard, stressing that any election which is not monitored by INEC is nullity.

Justice Liman futher said the only election recognised by law is the one which is monitored and supervised by INEC

He similarly said the National Executive of Peoples Democratic Party didn’t notified INEC 21 days before the primary election of the party conducted at Sani Abacha.

The Judge maintained that the inability of PDP at National Level to notify INEC the election being conducted at Sani Abacha rendered it invalid and illegal that according to the electoral act 2022 as amended.

The court similarly upheld that the Party at National Level didn’t not notified the venue of the election conducted at Sani Abacha 21 days before the election.
