KEDCO Blamed Illegal Connections, Vandalism for Low Power Supply to Residential Areas

The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) had blamed the increasing cases of low power supply to residential areas to Illegal connections, vandalism and other factors.

In a statement signed by the Chief head of Corporate Communications Officer Ibrahim Sani Shawai quoted the Management as saying these have contributed to the low supply being experienced in some residential locations in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States.

It said these acts aside being some of the reasons for low supply have resulted to fire outbreaks, electrocution as well as power outages in communities where these acts are being carried out.

In his message, the MD/CEO, Dr Jamil Isyaku Gwamna urged customers to share in the responsibility of protecting KEDCO’s installations, so that “we can adequately and effectively serve you better and guarantee your satisfaction.”

“Aside all we have listed above, the economic implication of these acts of vandalism, illegal connections, power theft and others is unimaginable.”

Dr. Gwamna commended communities who have been reporting illegal activities in their domains, while urging others to take a cue from them.
