The Management of Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) says bills issued to customers in Kano, Katsina and Jigawa States are reflections of their consumptions.
In a statement, signed by chief Head of corporate communications Ibrahim Sani Shawai quoted the Management as saying the clarification became imperative in view of complaints by some customers that they were billed high.
“We do not fabricate bills in KEDCO; what we do is estimated billing which is a reflection of what has been consumed.
“There is a central meter that reads consumption and it is based on that meter reading per transformer that we get the bills from and distribute to customers.”
In this regard, the bills we give are for the services enjoyed in the previous month; that’s May bills are energy consumed by customers in April; this means we give bills based on services already enjoyed by customers.
However, KEDCO is working hard to ensure that all customers are metered to ensure that estimated billing becomes a thing of the past.
