KNSG Committed to Sensitizing Kano Residents on Disaster Management

The Kano state government says it is sensitizing general public in the state on the effects and management of disaster.

The state governor Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje stated this during the one day conference on Disaster risk Reduction organised by state emergency management Agency (SEMA) in collaboration with other stakeholders on risk management.

Ganduje represented by secretary to the state government Alhaji Usman Alhaji said the state government in collaboration with traditional Rulers and other relevant stakeholders in sensitizing the public on the need to take precautionary measures to curtail preventable disasters in the state.

“Kano state emergency management Agency taken up some challenges in order to safeguard our environment as witness during the recently fire incidence, we charged them the responsibility of looking for way of preventing Reoccurrence of such incidence in the state” he said.

The governor then urged the participants to complement the effort of government in order to make the environment lively.

In his address, the executive secretary of SEMA Alhaji sale Jili said the conference was organised with aims
to enlighten the public on the disaster risk management with regard to recent Gas exploitations from the some of liquefied gas sellers in the state.

In his speech the director General National emergency management Agency (NEMA) Mustafa Habib Ahmad assured that NEMA being a coordinating agency in disaster management in the country will continue to Play it’s roles in prevention of policing and programmes that will strengthen disaster risk management in country.

The theme of the conference “timely information dissemination and utilization as a tool for disaster Reduction” attended by the 44 local government chairmen, traditional Rulers and relevant stakeholders.
