The Kano State University of Science and Technology KUST Wudil, has commended the state house of assembly KNHA for approving the renaming of the University after Kano business Man Aliko Dangote.
The Vice Chancellor of the University Professor Shehu Alhaji Musa made the disclosure in an interactive session with newsmen while winding up his tenure in Kano.
He said Aliko Dangote been the Chancellor of the University for many decades and has remarkably done well for the development of the institution namely constructing two hostels for Male and Female students with a normal accommodation of 500 students and also provided two 500KVA generator and connected the University with the National Integrated Power Project Wudil Station that cost over two hundred Billion Naira saying that is the reason the University enjoying electricity for 17 hours daily.
“Alhaji Aliko pleadged to support the University in many areas and master planning and academic and landscaping and asked the University to employ 15 foreign professors as he is going to pay them for four years”.
The Vice Chancellor also said Aliko Dangote will provide accommodation for them and the survey has concluded for the construction of industrial borehole and that will ease the activities of the over 30,000 population of the University, he connected the University with the sugarcane factory in Sudan.
“Professor Shehu Alhaji Musa further asked the University to provide agricultural blueprint master plan which helped over one million farmers in Northern Nigeria among the major contribution which makes him proud and ensures that Aliko Dangote is the illustrious son of the soil is that he promised to employ any graduate of the University who got first class or second class upper wishes to work in his company and they submitted the names of 493 students”.
He however said the University is preparing teaching hospital and need his support to complete seven storey senate building.
The Vice Chancellor commended the state house of assembly for the cordial working relationship with the University and the University will organize an endowment fund for the University staff.
“The University during the stewardship the University have produced over 117 professors and Associate professors among others”.
