KWSG, NDLEA Launch Fresh Operation Against Drug Abuse

Kwara State Government in partnership with the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has commenced a statewide operation to rid the state of drug and substance abuse.

Addressing newsmen at the Kwara state Command of the NDLEA in Ilorin,Special Assistant to governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq on Drug Abuse Prevention and Control,Aileru Mikail said the special operations will run for three weeks.

According to him the exercise code name “Operation Gbalumo” will focus on several key areas,which included raiding known drug hideouts and black spots, conducting targeted patrols in high-risk areas, monitoring illegal drug trafficking activities, and raising awareness about the dangers of drug abuse.

Mikail said the exercise would protect the state from influx of illicit drugs and drug-related activities, particularly in major towns and cities, before and after the festive period.

He noted that the collaboration is part of the renewed effort of the administration to maintain peace and security in the state.

On his part, the Kwara state Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Mohammed Bashir, commended the state government for its proactive approach and support to the agency.

He pledged the command’s unwavering commitment towards ensuring success of the operation.
