Profile of a Kano-born woman who declare interest to contest for President in 2023

A Kano-born woman, Mrs Nana Jibrin, has declared interest to run for the presidential race in 2023 General elections in Nigeria.

Mrs Jibrin declared in an interview with newsmen in Kano on Saturday, that Nigerians would be happier under the right leadership.

According to her, “Today I am formally declaring my interest to run for President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I wish to run for the most powerful office in Nigeria.” “Every Nigerian today, yearn for freedom from want and fear. We all want to be safe and secure.”

She explained that having been born, raised and also worked in Nigeria, she felt the pain and hardship of every Nigerian. “I travel by buses, keke, okada and other means of transportation. I bargain prices of items with the women selling peppers, onions and tomatoes.”

She revealed. Nigeria she added, is a fortunate country, despite being the most populous black nation, noting that the country still boost of strong unity.

“If by God’s grace and with your support we get elected, we shall provide contingency solutions to natural calamities in times of emergencies, as we have experienced in the recent world health crisis and global inflation.”

“I come to you now with a simple solution that begins with you and me, a solution that has worked in every other developed country of the world.”

“We need to make the right decisions, put the right people in the right places, and build a functional democratic structure that allowed for continuity.”

Mrs Nana Jibrin said she is aspiring for the position of President because Nigeria require a woman to fill up the gender gap.



Nana is a Political scientist. She has both her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Political Science. Her undergraduate research was on Development in Gender Imbalance: the need for government to balance the gap of gender inequality in both offices and political appointments, while her M.Sc research was on the Ability for Women to be Recognized and Contest for Political Offices, reaching the affirmative number as stated in the constitution for women.

She has practical experiences in building, architecture and engineering being a part of the supervision team of many projects including the AFDB main office in Abuja, architectural design for Catholic Cathedral Church, Abuja, the renovation of the ECOWAS President’s residence and other private projects.

Nana has been in the media for a while. With a B.A in Mass-Communication and a Post-Graduate Diploma in journalism. She multitasks as an Administrator, Events Department/Marketing Manager then rising in her career as Head of Business Development & Public Relations – Media, Northern Nigeria before her resignation.

She founded and sits as the CEO of J’asma Exclusive Services Limited, a company that comprises of general services like magazine publishing, contracts, oil and gas and other businesses. The company has been publishing a magazine for five(5) years, and she serves as a media consultant.

She is a certified member of Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) and also a Certified Project Manager (CPM). She is proficient in the areas of administration, management, communication, and computer applications and programming.

Nana also founded and is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO), Shelter for the Vulnerable since 2013. The NGO has over the years catered for the most vulnerable of our society, with most interventions in Kano (more than 1,000 individuals impacted).

She is passionate about issues of gender inequality and development which made her to establish the Womanhood Africa (WA) – committed to empowering and supporting women across Africa in overcoming specifically the challenges of hunger and malnutrition, poverty , female genital mutilation ( FGM), illiteracy, child and maternal mortality, oppression, gender-based violence (GBV) and other related issues. The WA strives to improve the standard of living of the African woman. She wants to see more women and youths participate in politicking.

Nana is an excellent cook who enjoys the kitchen. Today she’s also a restauranteur owning NAJ Kitchen. She enjoins everyone to cultivate the habit of eating healthy and regular exercise.

Nana looks forward to working with a goal oriented and results driven team where she can deploy her knowledge, wealth of experience, commitment, team work spirit, creativity and above all readiness to learn.
