Quality Governance Transcends Political Affiliations – Deputy Speaker

The Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Chief Benjamin Kalu says quality governance transcends political affiliations and focuses on ensuring sustainable socioeconomic development.

Chief Kalu stated this during a civic reception organized in his honour by the Abia State Government at the International Conference Center, Umuahia.

He called on the people of Abia to set aside political differences and become united in purpose for the greater good of the state.

Chief Kalu maintained that through collaborative efforts and shared commitment to progress the state would be able to find innovative solutions and make significant strides toward a better future.

The Deputy Speaker applauded Governor Alex Otti of Abia for the deferential relationship existing between him and President Bola Tinubu, noting that unity remained a crucial factor for the prosperity of the state.

He thanked the state government for honouring him and pledged to work with the state government for the transformation of the state.

In his remarks, Governor Alex Otti described the Deputy Speaker House of Representatives, Chief Benjamin Kalu, as one that had distinguished himself in his legislative duties, and had contributed immensely towards improving the security and welfare of the people.

According to Governor Otti, the state government decided to honour him despite difference in party leanings to appreciate his laudable contributions and selfless service to the state.

In separate goodwill messages, the former Minister of Labour and Productivity, Chief Emeka Wogu; the former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah; and Sen. Nkechi Nwogu amongst others said Chief Benjamin Kalu had distinguished himself in politics and deserved to be celebrated.

While describing the event as an uncommon one, the Chairman of the occasion, Chief Johnson Chukwu commended the state government for organizing the reception and charged politicians to change their orientation towards politics as political parties were mere vehicles to political positions, and should not be treated as more important than governance.

The event featured conferment of chietaincy title of ENYI ABIA on the celebrant and was attended by members of the National and State Assemblies government functionaries, Traditional Rulers, among other dignitaries.
