The Rano Emirate council have assured of it’s readiness to support Adolescent Girls Initiative for Learning and Empowerment Project AGILE, a World Bank supported project implemented by the Kano state Ministry of Education.
The Emir of Rano Ambassador Kabiru Muhammad Inuwa stated this when officials from the Ministry led by Permanent Secretary, Hajiya Lauratu Ado Diso paid him a courtesy visit at the palace.
In a statement signed by Rano Zonal Information Officer Nasiru Habu Faragai quoted the Emir as saying that all the counci’s District, Village and Ward heads will contribute their quoters for the success of the programme aimed at improving girls education at primary and secondary Schools level in the state.
He appreciated the state governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje for his concern to the education of girls, which according to him is a great development.
Earlier, the director partnership at the ministry Dr. Salisu Idris who represented the Permanent Secretary said, they were at the palace to introduce the programme as well as to solicit for the Emir’s blessing, support and cooperatlso
Also speaking, the programme coordinator, Alhaji Ado Tafida Zango stated that, the programme is a joint project between Federal government and the World Bank which selected six states including Kano to run the project, saying the selection of Kano was based on it’s greater concern to the development of girls education, as the project targeted beneficiaries are the Adolescent girls between the age of ten and ninteen (10-19 years).
He further said the project objective is to improve secondary education opportunities among girls in the participating states.
