Sanitation: Kano Government offer 10,000 reward to Street Sweeper for hard work

Kano state ministry of environment has offered the sum of ten thousand naira (10,000) and promise to award an aged street sweeper Hassana Bala for her dedication and ensuring that her portion remained clean all the time.

The state Commissioner for Environment Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso, while donating the middle aged Hassana Bala, said she was dedicated at all time, in ensuring that any portion assigned to her remained clean.

The Commissioner testified that the lady swept the portion of land assigned to her for cleaning and tidy both during the day and subsequently at night.

He said that some directors from the ministry testified to her selfless service, saying that her act should be emulated thus described her as the best sweeper of the year.

Dr Kabiru Getso further said that the ministry would officially recognize and award her, in order to encourage others.

Hassana was found to be picking at her portion during the night, and again during the morning times she ensures that her portion was clean” said the commissioner.

Meanwhile, the Kano state government has setup Street sweeping monitoring team, with a responsibility of monitoring and evaluating Street sweeping exercise in the state.

He said the team will be working on daily basis by inspecting the street sweeping exercise and will report back to the Central sanitation committee head by the state commissioner for environment.
