Stakeholders Advocate Proper Waste Disposal To Curb Climate Change In Nigeria


Nigerians have been urged to always embark on proper waste disposal to tackle menace of climate change currently bedeviling the social economic development of nations.

Executive Director, of a civil society organization “Connected Advocacy and youth development initiative,” Prince Israel Orekha stated this at a one day sensitization program for some Benin residents, entitled “raising awareness in Net- Zero in Nigeria held at Egor Local Government council Secretariat, Benin city, Edo State.

According to Prince Orekha, burning of waste as a method of disposal among others has led to activities that causes green house emissions that depletes the ozone layers.

Also speaking, a guest speaker, and Chief Executive officer of Center for Ecological and Community Development, Ondo State, Mr John Akinuba said the imperative for carrying community along in the fight of climate change currently ravaging nations cannot be overemphasized.

Earlier in a remark, Director of Social, Egor local Government council, Mrs Doris Orosanye said the program Will afford some community members the opportunity to know the inherent dangers of indiscriminate disposal of wastes which includes floodings and environmental pollution among others
