Street Sweeping: KNSG Honours Best Performing Staff, Private Sector Participants

The Kano state government has formally and officially presented commendation letters and some gifts to the Best Street Sweeper, the Best Street Supervisor and the Best PSP (Private Sector Participants) of the Month (July, 2022).

The state Commissioner for Environment, Dr. Kabiru Ibrahim Getso presented the letters and other gifts to the awardees at the Taskforce meeting with members of sanitation committee.

He said Ministry has found and recognised Malama Hasana Bala out of 2,000 (two thousand) sweepers for her outstanding performance while discharging her duties of street sweeping.

In a statement signed by chief public relations officer of the ministry Sanusi Abdullahi Kofar Na’isa said “As a result, the Commissioner, on behalf of the ministry, gave Hasana Bala an ‘atampa’ material and #20,000 (twenty thousand Naira), this is in addition to a commendation letter and a personal gift of #10,000 (ten thousand Naira) earlier given to her”.

Malam Sani Adamu Sani, who was honoured as the Best Street Supervisor, also received a gift of ‘Shadda’ material and #20,000 (twenty thousand Naira) while ‘Baban Bola’ Co. Ltd., a private waste management firm, was chosen as the Best PSP/ Private Street Sweeping Co”.

“The Chairman of the company, Alhaji Umar Nuhu received the letter on behalf of the company”.

“The Commissioner explained that the main essence of selecting the dedicated staff is to show appreciation for their work and motivate others”.

It added that, the Ministry has also honoured a former deputy director pollution control, Malam Baba Muhammed, who is now posted as director operations at Kano State Consumer Protection Council.

“All the honourees thanked the governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje and the Commissioner for honouring them”.

“They pledged to redouble their efforts”.
