TB Week 2023: KNSG Screens Over 41,000, Places 238 People On TB Treatment – Dr. Labaran


Kano State Government has expressed it’s satisfaction of the Tuberculosis Testing week 2023.

The state commissioner for health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf announced this during the wrap up of the National TB testing week 2023 in the state.

He said the eight days activities with various Tuberculosis intervention by the Kano state government through ministry for health in collaboration with federal ministry of health, Development Partners and Stakeholders.

“The activities range from general TB screening in all our health facilities, community outreaches, sensitization, TB screening in all special institution such as Tertiary institutions, correctional centers, nutrition, pediatric and children welfare clinics, Islamiyya and Tsangaya schools among others.” Dr. Labaran said.

The commissioner pointed out that, during the testing week over 41,056 were screened and placed 238 people on TB treatment including 44 children as well as 305 patients placed on TB prevention Treatment.

Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf also highlights some of the symptoms of Tuberculosis which includes cough of Two weeks or more, night sweat, fever and that diagnosis and treatment is free.

The commissioner called on all teeming populace of the state to go to the nearest health facility and get screened for TB which is free of charge.

He thanked governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for all support to the ministry for health, good people of Kano state.

Dr. Labaran Yusuf on be half of Kano state government appreciate Traditional and Religious leaders, philanthropist and the Development Partners for their support towards the success of the week-long activities.
