TCN Warns Public Against Erecting Structures on Transmission Lines

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has warned the general public to desist from erecting structures on its main transmission lines across the country.

The Chairman National Committee of Right of way of the Company Mr. Cephas Kangeh stated this while meeting relevant stakeholders on right of way (ROW) on TCN properties held in Kano.

Mr Cephas who is also the General Manager (GM) Health, Safety and Environment said the committee deemed it necessary to partner with relevant stakeholders while carrying out there assignments.

He said buildings were made under electricity towers in the country which has diverse effects ranging from health effects like Cancer, deformity and reproductive system.

The GM further said illegal erecting of buildings hindered the operation of the company.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary Kano State Bureau for Land Management Dr Zainab Ibrahim Braji said the Bureau will work with the committee for the success of the assignment.

Also speaking, the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps Adamu Idris Zakari assured the committee of preparedness of working with the committee by given all the needed support.

He said among there mandate is to protect the lives, properties and government assets.

The term and reference of the Committee is Data collection, Enlightenments and liason with the relevant stakeholders.
