Senate confirmed the appointment of new Service Chiefs as requested by President Tinubu

The Nigerian Upper Chamber (Senate House) today has confirmed the appointment of new Service Chiefs by Mr. President Tinubu.

The new confirmed Service Chiefs are Air Vice Marshal Halidu Abubakar – Chief of Air Staff, Maj. Gen Tahoreed Lagbaja – Chief of Army Staff, Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa – Defence Staff, and Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla – Chief of Naval Staff.

Their Confirmation of appointments was followed after the Senate committee spent over two hours in a closed-door session.

The Service Chiefs upon arrival, briefed the Senate House on strategies they have at hand in order to overcome insecurity nationwide after given two minutes each for self introduction before the screening exercise went into closed session because of security reasons.

It would be recalled that President Tinubu had on Tuesday, July 9 asked the Senate to confirm the appointment of the new Service Chiefs.

He made the request in a letter dated July 5, 2023, and addressed to the Senate, Senator Presodent Godswill Akpabio, which he read on the floor of the Senate Chamber.
