Two Cases of Suspected Varient Polio Cases Detected in Kebbi State

The World Health Organisation, says, two cases of suspected polio Varients has been confirmed in Kebbi State.

The State Coordinator of WHO, Dr. Emanuel Eyitayo, stated this at the Flag up of four days polio Immunization campaign held at Gwandu Emir’s Palace in the state capital Birnin Kebbi.

He said, poor immunization and noncomplience by parents of about One point Nine million under 5 children in the state attributed to the detection of the polio variants in the state.

Dr. Eyitayo, therefore called on parents to bring out their children for Immunization as well the traditional institution to enlighten their followers to accept and allow their children to be immunized against polio.

The Kebbi State Commissioner for Health, Alhaji Yunusa Ismail, said, the state is bordering two countries of Niger and Benin Republics which their children likey with the virus entered into the state which courses the two suspections.

While thanking the traditional institution for its role in sensitizing and educating the public on immunization, the Commissioner urged them to maintain the tempo so as to eradicated the polio virus completly in the state.

He said, the state has been doing all possible to ensure all citizens access good health through effective and efficient services delivery.

The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Iliyasu Bashar, who demonstrated administering of the vaccine to under five year Child, commended the government for involving traditional institute for the Immunization from 2009 which yielded positive result that made the state polio free.

He assured of more support to eradicate such deathly deseas in the state through emphazising on public enlightenments.
