War Against Injustice Condemned Assault On Premier Radio Reporter, Calls For Immediate Action

A Nongovernmental organization “War Against injustice” has condemned in totality the action of one Police officer who assaulted and applied criminal force against a practising journalist Muhammad Bello Dabai of Premier Radio, a private radio station in Kano.

This was contained in a statement signed by its executive director comrade Umar Ibrahim Umar which was made available to journalist in Kano.

According to the statement, the organization which focused in ensuring that justice is served to everyone, received with a heartbreaking a news of impunity crime against journalists (Muhammad Bello Dabai) who is in the line of his duty in his working place premises by a police officer in Kano.

The statement read in full “CONDEMNATION AND A CALL FOR PROPER AND IMMEDIATE ACTION AGAINST THE POLICE OFFICER WHO ASSAULTED AND APPLIED CRIMINAL FORCE AGAINST THE PRACTISING JOURNALIST, MUHAMMAD BELLO DABAI ATTACHED TO PREMIER RADIO OF KANO STATE”.

“We received a heartbreaking news of impunity crimes against journalists who is in the line of his duty in his workplace’s premises by a police officer in Kano State”, said the statement.

“Our call to Kano state Police Command, National Union of Journalist and other stakeholders to put their hands on deck to ensure this perpetrator is brought to justice as soon as possible if their is sufficient and admissible evidence and provide substantial remedy as well as public apology to the victim”, it added.

According to it “Journalists need to feel free at any time, it is our collective responsibility to protect our journalists”.

Finding by Radio Nigeria Pyramid revealed that the police officer while exchanging words with staff of the radio station said that they are trailing one thief when they realized that they were filmed by the said reporter.

Attempt to access his gadget failed a situation that prompted them to forcefully arrests him a threatened to kill him if he dined.
