We Didn’t Have Any Zoonotic Outbreak In Kano – Dr. Labaran

Kano state government says there is no any Zoonotic outbreak in the state.

The State Commissioner for Health Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf stated this during the closing Ceremony of 3day training on the prevention of the Disease organized by the Nigeria Center for Disease control in Kano.

Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf represented by the Director public health and disease control of the ministry Dr. Ashiru Rajab said the training which is aims as to developing massages key population in different areas of the Disease outbreak.

“The current concept in the health sector, no one ministry can fight an epidemic. So we have to bring other sectors that will help the ministry to convert outbreak.” Dr. Labaran said.

The commissioner expressed his delight for the training that comprises participants from the ministries for Agriculture and environment, Journalist and people from other partner organization.

“Currently there is no reported outbreak of zoonotic Disease in Kano state. But as you aware currently we are still having outbreak of Diphtheria infection from human to human and also having issues with the occasional outbreak of meningitis in a localized areas,” The commissioner said.

The commissioner pointed out that, Kano state government has provide a lot of support to convert Diphtheria outbreak.

“We have already identified Two centers were we are managing people that have been affected at Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital and infection Diseases Hospital which all medication and given free to the patients as well as people looking after the patients also feeding them free.” He added.

Dr. Abubakar Labaran Yusuf further said some teams currently are going round in the most affected communities to educate the populace and to inform them that if there is any signs and symptoms of the disease they should inform people to come to the centres.
