We’ll Continue Planting Trees To Mitigate Effect of Climate Change — Kabiru Getso

The Kano State government has assured it’s committiment to continue planting more trees in the state with a view to address the issues of climate change in the state.

The state commissioner for environment Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso disclosed this during lunching of 3rd phase of the tree planting exercise which takes place at zoological Garden in Municipal local government area.

Recall that the 1st phase takes place at Kawaji Zonal Education in Nasarawa local government area, while the 2nd phase at Gwarzo Road in Gwale local government area, all in a bid to address the issues of flooding and global warming.

In a statement signed by Director public enlightenment, Kano state ministry of environment Ismaila Garba Gwammaja, quoted the commissioner as urging people in the state, as a matter of concern, to plant at least one tree by every individuals and manage it properly up to the time of maturity to safeguard people from ravaging of floods and climate change.

He than urged people in the state to complement government efforts by avoiding indiscriminate dumping of waste and garbage in water ways.

Ealier, in his address the managing Director Kano zoological garden Alhaji Lawan Jinjiri commended the commissioner for choosing the zoological garden for the tree planting exercise which is timely and needed, looking at the green nature of their environment.

He also pleaged to monitor and supervise the seedling up to the time of maturity, in order to create an enabling environment for the teeming guest.
