The Kano State Government says its committed and determine to partner with any relevant organisations, stakeholders or groups towards ensuring a clean and tidy environment despite raining season experiencing globally.
The State Commissioner for Environment Dr Kabiru Ibrahim Getso disclosed this during routine inspection and monitoring exercise of evacuation of waste in Kano metropolis.
In a statement signed by Director Public Enlightenment, Kano state ministry of environment Ismaila Garba Gwammaja said the Commissioner who visited about thirty locations of dump sites commended the public for their cooperation and support towards ensuring a successful evacuation of waste, but urged them not to relent in ensuring proper disposal of waste at any dump site located within the metropolis.
The Commissioner represented by the Permanent Secretary Alhaji Adamu Abdu Faragai, charged residents to imbibe the culture of de-silting their drainage regularly especially during this season to avoid the effects of flooding.
While commenting the support of people in some areas, he pointed out that the present administration is passionate and committed to safeguard lives and property of its citizenry, however people are expected to do the needful by complementing government concerted efforts to that direction.
Responding, the chairman of self-help group of Dirimin-iya, Rimin Kira and also chairman amalgameted association of voluntary organisations in Kano Malam Muttaka Isa on behalf of the people in the area expressed his profound appreciation to the government for prompt evacuation of waste in their area by the ministry of environment and hope the tempo would be sustained while pledging their continued support and cooperation to achieve the sate objectives.
