Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved the constitution of a 10- man committee for the establishment of Kano State Directorate for Solid Mineral Development (KASDISMID)

Inaugurating the committee in his office, the Secretary to the State Government, Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi said that, to diversify and strengthen the Internally Generated Revenue of Kano State was one of the driving forces that necessitates such initiative

In a statement signed by information officer Cabinet Office Kano Musa Tanko Muhammad said Dr Bichi said solid mineral is a force to reckon with economically, that is why it is neither a Kano nor Nigeria but a global focus. He continued, it has a lot of potentialities to bringing much needed resources as well as investments which will make it possible for the government to adequately cater for the mass population we are identified with.

“we are known for having both human and natural resources in abundance. We are therefore, hoping to use such as an advantages to set a phase for generating revenue to better the lives of Kano people”. SSG added

Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi pointed out that, the composition of the committee was carefully made from the stakeholders who were so versed in the activities of mineral resources.

The committee has Aminu Abba Ibrahim, the Adviser to the State Governor on Solid Minerals as a Chairman and Mallam Yusuf Halilu of Cabinet Office as committee secretary.

The secretary to the state government further said the committee is to develop a framework for the establishment of Kano State Directorate for Solid Minerals Development (KASDISMID). They have also charged to develop structure and draft bill for the establishment of the agency and to propose staffing, duties and responsibilities/projections and transition plan for the agency. The committee is expected to submit reports within two weeks of the inaugurations.

In his remarks on behalf of the committee, the chairman, Alhaji Aminu Abba Ibrahim expressed his gratitude for the confidence and assured their commitment thorough success of the job.
