The Zamfara state government has approved the conversion of Damba Covid-19 Disease Control Center to a general hospital.

The directive was issued by the State Deputy Governor Senator Hassan Muhammad Nasiha when he visited the Center at Damba and Yariman Bakura Specialist Hospital Gusau.

He said the visit was a follow-up to his last visit to the two facilities aimed at improving the capacity of staff and facilities to meet the demand of the people of the state.

After inspecting all the available equipment at Damba, Senator Hassan Nasiha directed immediate handing over of the facility by the Ministry of Works to the Ministry of Health for conversion of the Centre to the status of General Hospital.

He gives two weeks ultimatum to the Ministry of Health to ensure immediate take-off of the Centre as General Hospital, adding that, considering the increase in population in the State Capital and its environs, the newly General Hospital is expected to complement the existing facilities in Gusau.
